LTYA- Where Sports Happen!

About Us/FAQ's

About LTYA Cheer

LTYA Cheer is a recreational youth sports league that emphasizes participation over competition and education over performance.  We strive to ensure that all participants, regardless of skill level, have the opportunity to play and we expect managers, coaches, and parents to maintain a safe, positive, and nourishing environment.

Our cheer program's home site is the Lake Travis ISD stadium and practice field complex. We serve the Lakeway, Bee Cave, Spicewood and surrounding area but accept players from any community regardless of residence.

Our cheer program offers every child in Kindergarten through the 6th grade the opportunity to participate regardless of ability, disability, skill level, talent or financial need.

If you wish to learn more about LTYA Cheer or understand how you can help, please contact any member of our Cheer Board.

Q: Will the cheerleaders travel to the away games?
A: LTYA has partnered up with the American Youth Cheer / Cen-Tex Cheer league.  We will have both home and away games. However, we will now have more options and/or opportunities to cheer at home.

Q: What if my daughter has never cheered before?

A: LTYA is recreational cheerleading.  We are introducing cheerleading to the girls at this age. All skill levels are welcome to participate.

Q: If my daughter cheered last year, do I need to order another uniform?
A:  LTYA Cheer updated our uniforms last year (2014), so if it still fits then you will not need to order a new one. All new registrants will be required to attend the uniform fitting.  We encourage ALL returning registrants to also attend the fitting because you will also have the opportunity to purchase any extras and even some additional New items that will be available. The Uniform fitting is scheduled for Saturday, May 21st at 3F Fitness.

Q: What is included in the Uniform Kit?
A: The uniform kit includes a shell, skirt, briefs, socks, shoes, bow, poms and a bag.

Q: Can my daughter cheer on the same team as her friend? brother's football team? sibling?
A: When registering, please note any special requests.  We make every attempt to honor these requests but cannot guarantee team placement.  The team placements are determined on the number of girls participating and the number of coaches available to lead the squads.

Q: How many days/ hours do the cheerleaders practice during the season?
A: Beginning in August there will be 2 practices a week.  There will be one practice a week and one game on Saturday once the season begins.

Q: What should my daughter bring to practice?
A:  Please make sure your daughter comes dressed in athletic wear, hair pulled up, tennis shoes (no sandals, flip flops, etc.), no jewelry and plenty of water.  We request that practices are closed to parents, as it makes practices run smoother and the girls focus more on what the coaches are teaching and not their family. We truly appreciate your understanding. However, If you will be at a different number than what we have on our registration form or team roster, please give that number to the coach prior to practice in case of emergency.

Q: How many games are in the season?
A: There are usually eight to ten games in the season.  Game schedules will be published the first part of August and will be added to the website at that time.

Q: How can I volunteer?
A: LTYA is always looking for great volunteers for Cheer.  You can volunteer your time as a head coach, assistant coach or team mom.  Be sure to mark this in your registration if you are interested in learning more about volunteering and we will contact you.

We anticipate a growth in our program and are looking for great coaches to coach the squads.  You do not need  prior cheerleading experience - just enjoy working with kids.  Please let me know if you are interested in coaching.

Registration and Certification

Q: What is "certification" and will my child need to be certified?
A:.  Every player must be certified prior to the first game of the season. Each team mom will have all the cards ready for each of the players to be certified at the First Boot Camp practice in August.  Your child will not be able to participate without all the completed forms and needed documents. This only takes a little while and it is VERY IMPORTANT that your child attends. Make-up certifications may require you to travel out of the area and are often difficult to transfer. Please make every effort possible to attend the scheduled certification.

Q: What documents are necessary at certification?
A:  Each child will need:
o Registration form (this includes medical release)
o Birth Certificate
o Proof of residency (utility bill)
o Final report card for the year (Please note we understand Pre-k doesn't have report cards)
o Physical exam (within the last three months)
o Player/Parental Behavior forms
o Team Roster Photo (will not be returned) and Consent Forms
Note: Upon completion/certification, these documents and forms will go to your child's coach. Each team is required to maintain a book containing those forms and these books must be assembled at the beginning of the season or your child will be ineligible to participate.

Cheer Clinic

When is the cheer clinic?
The clinic will be on a Saturday in August. Time and location to be determined.
Do I have to attend the clinic?
The clinic is optional, but the girls will learn cheers, chants, dance that they will perform throughout the season.
Do I have to be a LTYA cheerleader to attend the clinic?
The clinic is open to anyone.
