Shetland League (Ages 5-6)


The Shetland program introduces children to the game of softball in a fun and non-competitive environment. No score is kept, and the focus is on developing the fundamentals of the game--throwing, catching, base running, and hitting the ball off of a tee.

General Shetland Program Information:
  • Girls' league for ages 5 and 6 as of January 1, 2023.
  • Detailed information about program structure and rules can be found under Shetland Rules.
  • Tee ball
  • Bases are set at 55'
  • Focus is on developing a fundamental skill set that will allow for a successful transition in future years while creating an environment that breeds passion and respect for the game.
  • Most players have little to no experience.
  • High level of parental involvement at practice and during games


Pinto League (Ages 7-8)


The Pinto division introduces children to a more competitive game of softball. Players will learn to hit a pitch from a coach, run bases more aggressively, and control runners on defense.

General Pinto Program Information:
  • Girls' league for ages 7 and 8 as of January 1, 2023.
  • Detailed information about program structure and rules can be found under Pinto Rules.
  • "Coach Pitch"
  • Bases are 55'.  Balls are pitched from 40'
  • Focus is on developing a fundamental skill set that will allow for a successful transition in future years while creating an environment that breeds passion and respect for the game.
  • Most players have a minimum level of experience.
  • Teams are formed through a draft process assuming two or more teams, so requests to play with a certain player or for a certain coach/team are difficult to honor.
  • Purpose of the draft is to form well-balanced teams while distributing the league talent as effectively as possible. Regardless of her ability, every girl who wants to play will be placed on a team.


Mustang league (Ages 9-10)


The Mustang division provides an increasingly competitive softball experience. Mustang provides batters their first experience in facing their peers on the mound as well as stealing bases. Pitchers will learn to throw balls and strikes.

General Mustang Program Information:
  • Girls' league for ages 9 and 10 as of January 1, 2023.
  • Detailed information about program structure and rules can be found under Mustang Rules.
  • Players will pitch from the mound and the game begins to take on more traditional rules including stealing bases, balls and strikes, dropped third strikes, etc.
  • Bases are set at 60'.  Pitcher's Mound is set at 35'
  • Goals at this age are still highly focused on developing a fundamental skill set that will allow for a successful transition in future years while creating an environment that breeds passion and respect for the game as well as for coaches and teammates.
  • Mustang division is usually made up of girls with some softball experience, though all experience levels are welcome.
  • Teams are formed through a draft process assuming two or more teams, so requests to play with a certain player or for a certain coach/team are difficult to honor.
  • Purpose of the draft is to form well-balanced teams while distributing the league talent as effectively as possible. Regardless of her ability, every girl who wants to play will be placed on a team.


Bronco League (Ages 11-12)


The Bronco division teaches participants a balanced mix of softball fundamentals and how to play competitively. Players receive further instruction in the pitching game, while advanced training in base running becomes necessary, as there are no restrictions on stealing of bases. The emphasis in this program is on teamwork and sportsmanship with a goal of teaching players to win graciously and lose with dignity.

General Bronco Program Information:
  • Girls' league for ages 11 and 12 as of January 1, 2023.
  • Detailed information about program structure and rules can be found under Bronco Rules
  • The game the traditional rules of PONY softball including stealing bases, balls and strikes, dropped third strikes, etc.
  • Bases are set at 60'. Pitchers Mound is set at 40'.
  • Goals at this age are still highly focused on developing a fundamental skill set that will allow for a successful transition to the Pony softball division and eventually High School softball.
  • Environment that breeds athletic confidence, passion and respect for the game as well as coaches and teammates is also a high priority.
  • Bronco division is usually made up of girls with three to five years of softball experience.
  • Teams are formed through a draft process assuming two or more teams, so requests to play with a certain player or for a certain coach/team are difficult to honor.
  • Purpose of the draft is to form well-balanced teams while distributing the league talent as effectively as possible. Regardless of her ability, every girl who wants to play will be placed on a team.

Pony League (Ages 13-14)


The Pony division provides players the opportunity to expand and develop skills in an increasingly competitive yet fun environment.

General Double A Program Information:
  • Girls' league for ages 13 and 14 as of January 1, 2023.
  • Detailed information about program structure and rules can be found under Pony Rules
  • The game has the traditional rules of PONY softball including stealing bases, balls and strikes, dropped third strikes, etc.
  • Bases are set at 60'. Pitchers mound is set at 43'
  • Goals at this age are still highly focused on developing a fundamental skill set that will allow for a successful transition to High School softball.
  • Environment that breeds athletic confidence, passion and respect for the game as well as coaches and teammates is also a high priority.
  • Pony division is usually made up of girls with three to five years of softball experience.
